When Barb let me know that her daughter was pregnant, I knew it meant some great baby projects were about to get underway. Over the years she’s made many lovely things for her children and grandchildren. But this was going to be really special – since her youngest child (and only daughter) was now having a baby.
Some months back, we talked about possible blankets to knit, and I helped Barb choose a pattern and corresponding yarn. (Baby Babar Blanket and Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton).
I never saw this blanket in progress, and never heard how it was coming along. Then I went to the baby shower last weekend, and watched as her daughter, Sara, opened the gift. It was so beautiful! Everyone was in awe.
I often help customers select materials for baby gifts they wish to knit. But I’ve never been there when the gift was given. That was such a thrill. It came out better than I even imagined. And I was touched to see this very special hand-knit heirloom presented to the happy Mom to be.
Oh… and how cute is this fruit platter?!
