fun day with visitors from black mountain yarn shop

Last weekend a group of 16 knitters from Black Mountain Yarn Shop visited us during their Chicago Knitaway.  What a fabulous group!  We enjoyed having them spend the afternoon with us shopping and knitting.

We assembled a display of local “Made in the Midwest” products   – including vibrant yarn from Leading Men Fiber Arts, and adorable stitch markers from the talented glass artist, Ann Tudor.

Local pattern designer, Heidi (of the blog handsoccupied), offered a little Trunk Show. She discussed her design process and showed her latest samples (like this pretty Howdy Ombre pictured).

We celebrated staff birthdays while they were here, so we all sang and enjoyed some yummy cake together.

As they left they posed for a fun group shot outside our shop.  We hope they’ll come back to see us again!  It was great to meet them!

april project of the month

22 little clouds

Hello April!

Our Project of the Month is 22 Little Clouds by Martina Behm (strickmich). We knit our sample out of Shibui Pebble held with Shibui Silk Cloud on size 7 needles.

Want to cast on this sublime kerchief/shawlette?  It’s soft and light and oh so wearable. Mention you saw this post any time this month, and receive 10% off your project supplies!  (That’s just under $56 for the yarn.)

Remember, we are happy to ship.  Give us a call at 773.486.8996 or email us at info@ninachicago.com

The shop occasionally hosts special events, book signings, trunk shows, and sales. Private events can also be arranged at the shop by request.

Perhaps you'd like to have a birthday party centered around a knitting lesson. Or a baby shower during which everyone learns to knit a square for a baby blanket. Or a corporate networking event that features knitting instruction. Or a book club that encourages participants to knit while discussing the book. Nina: a well-knit shop is available for these and other special events.
