still square-ish knitalong

still square-ish

Meet Still Square-ish, an updated version of the wildly popular top many of us made last summer called Square-ish.

This new one is knit with Shibui Pebble, a lovely light-weight yarn made of cashmere, silk and wool. The new design features added details like a lengthened back and a subtle lined stitch pattern. Yet it’s still defined by its simplicity.

Just two rectangles with seams, it’s very easy to knit. And it’s even easier to wear – it looks great on anyone, with any outfit!

Here are a few people modeling our shop sample. After trying it on, they all chose to knit their own out of various colors of Shibui Pebble. We can’t wait to see them when they finish.

Want to make one too? We’ll be working on them together this Spring.

Join our Still Square-ish Knitalong every Saturday from 3-5pm.

If you’re still working on the original Square-ish top, you’re welcome to join our Knitalong too! We know you can get it done in time to wear this summer! Whether you want to finish that, or start the new one, let’s bring all our rectangular things together. Hilary, designer of both garments, will be available to help and motivate you.

There’s no fee or registration requirement. And you don’t need to come every Saturday. Just come when you can – any Saturday, anytime between 3-5pm.

We look forward to seeing you!

collaboration with john fluevog shoes chicago

We’re participating in a fun Yarn Bomb Collaboration with neighbor shop, John Fluevog Chicago.  And we need your help!

They just completed a beautiful remodel of their store, and want to yarn bomb two pillars in the center of their space.  That’s where you come in!  We’re inviting 24 knitters to knit 12″ x 18″ panels that will be stitched together and wrapped around the pillars at a Party at Fluevog on November 1st (6-9pm).

fluevog

Sign up to participate here.  The first 24 knitters to respond will be invited to pick up a yarn package at Fluevog.  You’ll knit a panel in a stitch of your choice, and then bring it to the Party at Fluevog on Tuesday, November 1st from 6-9pm. (at 1539-41 N. Milwaukee Ave).  It will be a fun night watching the knit art come together while shopping for shoes.  There will be food, drinks, discounts and giveaways!

We can’t wait to see the results of this yarn bombing!

Space is limited, so sign up now.

well that was fun!

Stephen West came to our shop for a Westknits Bestknits Book Signing event and Brioche Workshop last week, and he brought a lot of color!

It was truly radiant with all his samples hanging about.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in welcoming Stephen. It was a great time!

The shop occasionally hosts special events, book signings, trunk shows, and sales. Private events can also be arranged at the shop by request.

Perhaps you'd like to have a birthday party centered around a knitting lesson. Or a baby shower during which everyone learns to knit a square for a baby blanket. Or a corporate networking event that features knitting instruction. Or a book club that encourages participants to knit while discussing the book. Nina: a well-knit shop is available for these and other special events.
