back from buying trip…

I just returned from 4 exciting days at TNNA – my favorite event of the year – a huge trade show where I discover new products to bring to our shop.  It’s inspirational to see all the fall yarns, books and patterns.  I love meeting with designers, company representatives, and other shop owners.  But most of all I enjoy going to TNNA because I LOVE BUYING YARN!

Can’t wait to receive all the things I ordered!

Here’s a preview:

Malabrigo’s new Rios Superwash (It was impossible to choose so I just ordered every single colorway).  Plus I beefed up our current stock of Rasta, Twist, Lace and Sock yarn too.

I added some beautiful new colors of Misti Alpaca Chunky to compliment the rest of our collection.  Plus some new cozy wrap patterns that are just perfect for this super soft yarn.

I ordered the much anticipated Merino Light by Madelinetosh as well as Sock, DK, Lace, and Pashmina.  Amy was gracious and helpful as I pondered my decisions in her booth.  I simply love all of her colors.  There will certainly be a big announcement when I receive her yarns and patterns since I know there’s a huge Madelinetosh fan club out there.

The booth by Blue Sky Alpacas & Spud & Chloe is always a show stopper.  They have an amazing way of displaying things.  I always want to carry every one of their yarns and designs.  I’m excited about the new patterns I picked, and I can’t wait to start knitting them as soon as they arrive (which will be very soon).

Maggie at Pick Up Sticks is one of my favorite people, and I so enjoyed visiting with her and ordering her clever new patterns & kits.  Her ideas are incredibly well presented.

Had a nice dinner with Leslie from Mac & Me.  I’ve carried her patterns for several years, and it’s always a treat to see her line (she has some great new designs!)  Got the update on her daughter Mac (who just graduated from high school – Congrats Mac!)

Saw the talented young designers Stephen West and Ysolda Teague and ordered their new patterns and upcoming booklets.

Offhand Designs bags are available in a new style called Scottie.  So I ordered several – in some fantastic new fabrics.

It was great to see Jeanne from Oregon’s Imperial Stock Ranch .  She was decked out in her sheepskin vest and fancy cowboy boots, surrounded by natural fibers and images of the beautiful Oregon landscape.  She makes me want to live on a ranch.  I love her yarns and pattern collection.

In addition to ordering from existing lines I carry such as Rowan, Berroco, Be Sweet, Classic Elite and Louet, I also found several new products from New Zealand, England, Canada and Maine.  Can’t wait to introduce them as soon as they arrive!

It was certainly a productive and exhilarating buying trip!

so impressed!

Carolyn stopped by to show us her shrug.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!

Carolyn's Malabrigo shrug

The pattern, Sage, is from Rowan’s Pattern Booklet “New Shapes.”  The yarn is Malabrigo Aquarella.

The back has 4 separate panels that show off the kettle dyed color (Indy) and the stitch pattern brilliantly.

a few new things…

malabrigo twist2

We just received the long awaited new line of yarn by Malabrigo called Twist (in more than 20 gorgeous colors)!

It’s a worsted weight merino wool, a little heavier than the original Malabrigo worsted merino we carry. Each skein has 150 yards and knits at approx 4 stitches per inch.  The 8-ply composition is soft and spongey, and takes the kettle dyes so beautifully.   I’m imagining wonderful hats, gloves, sweaters, blankets…

cashmere scarf kits

In response to many requests for cashmere yarn, we’re now offering Cashmere Scarf Kits by Jade Sapphire.

There are kits “for her” and kits “for him.”  Each come with a booklet containing 7 different scarf patterns (like the cabled one above).

You’ll find  several color choices of luxuriously soft cashmere.  $99 each.

elsebeth

We recently started carrying Silky Wool by Elsebeth Lavold.  It’s a DK yarn in natural heather tones, ideal for light weight garments and accessories.

introducing imperial stock ranch yarn…

Imperial Stock Ranch in Oregon makes beautiful fibers.  We just introduced their bulky pencil roving, a very special yarn that is great for knitting and felting.  Each "cake" has approx 250 yards and sells for $13.  Designer, Leigh Radford, created some great patterns for this yarn, such as the Ribbon Scarf in the photo above. We sell the individual patterns as well as the yarn.

knitting bags by offhand designs

We've been wanting to carry the amazing bags from Offhand Designs for a long time.

Finally we do!!

These are some of the styles we currently have at the shop.  There are so many other shapes and fabric choices – which we can special order for you.

spud & chloe

The much anticipated new line of Spud & Chloe yarns and patterns from Blue Sky Alpacas have really taken off since they arrived at the shop last month.  There are 3 different types of yarn:  Outer, Sweater and Fine.  Each have a different composition of natural fibers and colors.  All are machine washable, which makes them perfect for so many projects.

Outer is a bulky weight yarn – 65% superwash wool and 35% organic cotton.  Each skein is 60 yards and costs $14.

Here are a couple of patterns in Outer:

.

Sweater is a worsted weight yarn – 55% superwash wool and 45% organic cotton.  It comes in 160 yard skeins for $12.50.

Here are a couple of patterns in Sweater:

Fine is a fingering weight sock yarn – 80% superwash wool and 20% silk.  Each skein has 248 yards and costs $11.

Here are a couple of patterns in Fine:

madelinetosh yarn is here!

We just started carrying Madelinetosh yarn, and we're so happy to have it!

Look at all the beautiful colors of Worsted and Sock yarn.

It's great to have more superwash merino wool in the shop.

irresistable felting kits

If you want a fun small project, these felting kits from Pick Up Sticks are ideal.

We also sell individual felting patterns

and small balls of yarn (65 yards) for just $3 each

so you can try an assortment of colors.

seduce

Just in… a new batch of Seduce… a really special yarn by Berroco made of linen, rayon, silk and nylon.  It's light weight and textured – and perfect for sweaters, tanks, vests, and spring scarves.

It suits lots of patterns in our shop, including projects found in these Norah Gaughan booklets.

The shop occasionally hosts special events, book signings, trunk shows, and sales. Private events can also be arranged at the shop by request.

Perhaps you'd like to have a birthday party centered around a knitting lesson. Or a baby shower during which everyone learns to knit a square for a baby blanket. Or a corporate networking event that features knitting instruction. Or a book club that encourages participants to knit while discussing the book. Nina: a well-knit shop is available for these and other special events.
